2006-08-12 台湾の口琴節で学んだこと　１

_ 何よりも驚いたのは、アジア各国からは大勢の子どもたちや若者たちが参加していたことです。

彼らが3本吹き・4本吹きなども含めて、難局をやすやすと吹きこなす姿は圧巻でした。半音階の持ち替えなども見事なものです。子どもたちの参加枠だけでなく、一般のエントリーの中でも、上位を彼らが独占したことに、アジア各国のエネルギーを感じます。これから10年たてば、この国々では、思いもつかないようなハイレベルの演奏者や、それを支える膨大なハーモニカ人口を抱えることになるでしょう。

前回の香港のときも子どもたちが沢山参加していましたが、今回はそれを遥かに越えるものでした。とりわけ台湾ではこのハーモニカフェスティバルの第1回が開催された経緯もあって、フェスティバルで刺激を受けた子どもたちに対する教育が熱心に行われたことがうかがえます。

日本からの参加者は150人という話でしたが、そのほとんどが高齢者だったこととも考えあわせると、これからの大切な課題が浮かび上がってきます。

もともと複音ハーモニカは日本で発達した楽器です。でも、今や小学校で取り上げられることもほとんど無くなったようで、このままでは廃れてしまいかねません。

前々から願いの一つだった「子どもたちにハーモニカを教えたい」は、かくして明確な課題となりました。

介護の仕事を後進に譲った後は、ぜひとも子どもたちの教室を開きたいと思っています。
